We have committed approximately 75% of our funds to
eye-related research and support services.

We have most recently made substantial contributions to the following:

Foundation Fighting Blindness is a nationally recognized organization that drives research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for retinitis pigmentosa (RP), macular degeneration, Usher syndrome, and other retinal degenerative diseases. Andrei was a big supporter of FFB during his lifetime and their research has contributed immensely to the cause.

The UCI Foundation for the Klassen Retinal Regeneration Program is actively conducting research to “develop novel treatments for retinal diseases”. They have performed countless research studies and have made significant progress.
For more information on their current research and studies, click here.

Guide Dogs for the Blind breeds, raises and trains guide dogs and then pairs them up with a blind or visually impaired person in need. All costs associated with the dog over their lifetime, including training, veterinary bills, etc, is paid for by Guide Dogs for the Blind. The bond between these “partners” is remarkable and life changing for the visually impaired individual.

Makapo Aquatics Project is a blind and visually impaired canoe club in Orange County. They compete professionally and offer all blind and visually impaired adults an opportunity to be active and join a team. They also conduct classes for visually impaired and blind children; teaching them about the joys of paddling. The Andrei Foundation was honored to purchase their beautiful canoes, aptly named “Andrei” and “Salsa” (one of Andrei’s nicknames).

Approximately 25% of the Andrei Foundation’s funds go toward other charitable projects and causes. We recently have been involved with a wonderful Russian orphan program called Health of the Fatherland.

Also, we have become involved with Bridge 2 Peace, a wonderful school in a tsunami-devastated part of Sri Lanka. They are currently building a new library which we are thrilled they will be naming the Andrei Olenicoff Memorial Library.

On February 16, 2008, the Andrei Foundation sponsored a 7th grade class from
El Viento
to give them an opportunity to learn about the ocean at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point. Over 20 kids took a bus from Huntington Beach to the Ocean Institute and participated in learning demonstrations and a 2-hour boat trip. We were lucky enough to find a large pod of dolphins, too!
